  • Where does cocoa live?

    Where does cocoa live?

Cocoa or Cacao tree (Theobroma cacao) originates in the rainforests around the Amazon and Rio Negro rivers in South America. It was probably cultivated by the Olmecs, an advanced Indian culture living in the Gulf of Mexico. They also used cacao beans as currency. The Mayans and Toltecs took over the cultivation of cacao trees and the use of cacao from them.
The drink made from cacao seeds was intended only for the monarch. The Aztecs later perfected the use of cacao. The product made from its seeds was called “xocolatl”. Their ruler Monezuma is said to have drunk cacao every day. However, his drink was significantly different from today’s “cacao”.

    Cocoa Butter

    What actually is cocoa butter?
    What is it good for?
It is a quality healthy fat that comes from cocoa fruit. It has a pale cream colour and a fine velvet texture – a taste,

which is actually neutral, and yet along with the wonderful scent it can overwhelm our senses.

By pressing it is separated from the cocoa mass, which is further processed for cocoa powder. Therefore, on most cocoa powders, you can read the label –

    “low-fat cocoa powder”.

This does not mean this cocoa is suitable for a weight loss, but that it is cheap and with less nutritional value, because healthy fat has almost completely been removed from it.

The cocoa powder sold here contains it, of course, the percentage of cocoa butter content is indicated by the number next to the product name 10/12 or 20/22.
The cocoa butter is one of the top quality fat, that a man can eat. You can use it wherever you have so far used the unhealthy saturated fats. Your cakes and cookies will gain wonderful scent and flavour. Besides, your heart, veins and arteries would thank you.

This unique fat is mostly used for top quality chocolate and cosmetics. The chocolate you usually buy contains only traces of it, if at all. It is replaced with saturated plant oils, because they are much cheaper for the producers. This is a great pity, because chocolate – if made properly – can be classified as one of the superfoods. So next time you read the little letters on the back of chocolate bar, remember the trans-fats and their impact on your health, and also recall what you know about the oil palm plantations in Indonesia.
Of course – The only fat the chocolates in our offer contain is cocoa butter. It gives them the velvet taste and a lovely scent.
The cocoa butter is also suitable for homemade cosmetics due to its effect on the skin. So it is good from the inside and as well from the outside.
To make the most of its potential, you should replace the cocoa butter at least partially for the fats you usually use for your cooking. It is ideal for chocolate topping or homemade chocolate cakes. It requires only moderate temperature to melt, in fact, all the nutritious substances would be preserved this way.

    • From now on your cakes will not contain the dangerous trans fats!
It makes also wonderful ingredient for delicious cream for the pastries or RAW vegan cakes prepared without baking.
The cocoa butter also withstands the high temperatures, so it can be used for baking or frying. We recommend a special deodorised butter for this, without its typical scent, suitable for preparation of any meals, where the sweet smell would not be appropriate.

Nutritional values of the cocoa butter:
    for 100 g it contains
    884kcal
    100g fat, naturally, from which 60g are saturated /stearic acid and palmitic acid/, 3g poly-non-saturated /linoleic acid /, and 33g mono-non-saturated /oleic acid/,
it contains zero cholesterol, zero sodium, no carbohydrates and no proteins.
    Usage in cosmetics:
dry skin hydration – it absorbs quickly and does not cause the fatty feeling on the skin, on the contrary – it maintains the natural skin moisture. It is also good for the elbows and feet, where the skin tends to dry and peel.
against ageing – its antioxidants and nutrients content takes care of the smoothening and softening of the complexion, supports the elasticity and prevents wrinkles
healing effects – it prevents the acne scars, or the scars after injuries, it softens the different skin tone of old scars and also it smoothes the scars due to the vitamin E content. Accordingly it fight the stretch marks formation during pregnancy, or reduces the visibility of existing stretch marks.
nails and cuticle care, cures hangnails
    heals the insects bites
    weather, frost and wind protection
    after sun or solarium
It is easy to spread, because it melts at the human body temperature. Just hold a piece in your palms and warm up for a while.
For homemade cosmetics making it is better to heat it up on mild fire. It only takes few minutes.

Throw a piece of it directly into your hot water bath and after a while the butter melts and changes your bath into a skin moisturising and aroma therapy.
Enjoy a massage with delicate chocolate scent.
Suitable for every skin type, even the most sensitive.
Regenerates ageing skin, soothes sun-tanned or injured skin.
Even though it is purely natural product, we recommend to perform a test for the reaction on the little area of your skin. Especially if you have an allergy to nuts or cocoa. Maybe you will find out, you were only allergic to poor quality chocolate and the real natural cocoa butter agrees with you.
The cocoa butter has a long durability. When stored at room temperature, in a dry place, it stays fresh for about 3 years, due to the vitamin E content, which is itself a strong antioxidant, and others antioxidants and minerals too.
It is literally full of antioxidants – polyphenols, catechins and epicatechins, which fight the free radicals and stimulate the phenyletylamine (PEA) and anandamine creation. The cocoa butter is also the natural source of minerals such as manganese, zinc, coper, theobromine, iron, chrome, potassium, magnesium and omega-6.
